California Privacy Policy Addendum

Our Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use and share information on all customers. This California Privacy Policy Addendum applies solely to California residents. We adopt this notice to comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020 (collectively, the “CPRA”) and any terms defined in the CPRA have the same meaning when used in this notice.

How Information Is Used:

We use your Personal Information as necessary to provide our products, including to process your requests, purchases, transactions, and payments and prevent transactional fraud and to fulfill any other purpose for which you provide consent.

Information We Collect:

We collect information: (1) directly from you when you provide it to us, (2) automatically as you navigate our website, and (3) from third parties including our service providers. In the preceding twelve (12) months, we have collected the following categories of personal information:

  1. Identifiers such as name, billing address, shipping address, contact information, e-mail address, IP address;
  2. Personal information categories listed in the California Customer Records statute (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.80(e)) such as a name, address, telephone number, payment information;
  3. Commercial information such as order activity and history;
  4. Internet or other similar network activity such as browsing history, search history and your interaction with our website; and
  5. Geolocation data associated with your IP address.

We keep the information collected from you for as long as necessary or appropriate to serve you, maintain your account or as otherwise needed to operate business. We will retain use of your information as long as required to comply with legal and reporting obligations, complete outstanding transactions and for the detection and prevention of fraud.

How and to Whom Information is Disclosed:

In the preceding twelve (12) months, we have disclosed the categories of Personal Information above to third party data brokers, internet cookie recipients, and advertising partners for the following business purposes:

  • Identifiers to service providers to verify customer information, fulfill orders and requests, and for marketing purposes;
  • Personal information categories listed in the California Customer Records statute (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.80(e)) to third party payment processors and service providers to verify customer information, process payments, fulfill orders and requests, and for marketing purposes; and
  • Commercial information and Internet or other similar network activity to third party marketing partners and service providers for marketing services and to improve website operations including site functionality and navigation.

In addition to the above, we may disclose any or all categories of Personal Information as necessary to comply with federal, state, local laws, or court orders, law enforcement requests, the defense or exercise of other legal claims, or to maintain an evidentiary privilege. Uline does not share Geolocation data to third parties.

How and to Whom Information is Shared and Sold:

In the preceding twelve (12) months, we have sold and/or shared: Identifiers; Personal information categories listed in the California Customer Records statute (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.80(e)); Commercial information; and Internet or other similar network activity to third party marketing partners for marketing services. Uline does not sell and/or share Geolocation data.

  • Email - to opt out of Marketing emails, click on the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of our e-mails
    • Note: This will not remove you from non-promotional e-mail messages regarding your account (i.e. order confirmations).

Consumer Data Rights:

As a California resident, the CPRA provides you with specific rights regarding your Personal Information, including:

  • The Right to Know the categories and specific pieces of Personal Information we have, over the past 12 months, collected about you and the categories of sources from which that Personal Information came from, our purpose for collecting this Personal Information, the categories of third parties with whom we have shared your Personal Information and, if we have sold or disclosed your Personal Information, a separate list of categories of people that we disclosed and sold it to.
  • The Right to Access or request a copy of the specific pieces of Personal Information that we have collected or created about you.
  • The Right to Deletion of any of your Personal Information that we collected from you and retained, subject to certain exceptions.
  • The Right to Correct any incorrect Personal Information about you to ensure that it is complete, accurate, and as current as possible. In some cases, we may require you to provide reasonable documentation to show that the Personal Information we have about you is incorrect and what the correct Personal Information may be.

Uline will not discriminate against you because you exercised any of your rights under the California Privacy Rights Act.

To exercise any of your rights above, please contact our Customer Service Team at 1-800-295-5510 or write to the Uline Circulation Department below and reference “California Privacy Rights.” You may only make a consumer request twice within a 12-month period. You will be required to provide Personal Information in order for us to verify your identity and complete the request. The provided Personal Information will only be used to verify your identity or authority to make the request. An authorized agent may exercise any of your rights on your behalf with a signed authorization agreement. Please allow 45 days for a response.

If we receive a privacy control signal, we will opt you out of the sale or sharing of Personal Information Additionally, we do not track you over time and across third-party websites or other online services for any purpose. Some web browsers permit you to broadcast a signal to websites and online services indicating a preference that they “do not track” your online activities. At this time, we do not honor such signals and we do not modify what information we collect or how we use that information based upon whether such a signal is broadcast or received by Uline.

In the future, Uline may update this privacy policy to reflect unanticipated practices not outlined in this policy. These changes will be posted to the website, and users are invited to occasionally review the privacy policy.
